Elevation Residences, Addis Ababa

Elevation Residences is a 112-unit diplomatic residential tower in the heart of Ethiopia’s capital city, Addis Ababa. It is the only security and international construction standard compliant housing in Ethiopia. The project and site selection are driven by the needs of the US Embassy in Ethiopia. Designed as a multi-tenant Diplomatic community, the project was delivered in October 2021. We advised on the key financial, legal and banking aspects of the project.

Reppie Waste to Energy, Addis Ababa

We worked with the investors and managers to develop and promote this waste to energy project in Ethiopia, unique in Africa. Working within the EU’s strict emissions limits, this plant safely disposes of 1,400 tons per day of Addis Ababa’s domestic rubbish and in doing so meets up to one third of the capital’s demand for clean electrical power. We advised on the following:

  • Commercial and legal issues relating to the design, construction, testing and operation of the plant

  • Managing relations with governmental departments, engineering firms, joint venture and other partners

  • Reputation management and public relations advice, commissioning this promotional video and also working with international media.

Arakele plc is a social enterprise Fashion Design College located in Addis Ababa which provides government accredited training in textiles and design. Arakele graduates leave with a Certificate of Competence (CoC) Ethiopian government certificate, and industry-recognized certifications that validate their skills and expertise. For the women graduates, these qualifications open doors to opportunities in the global fashion industry. We worked with the investor and management teams to create a sustainable growth and development strategy.

Verde Beef, Agriculture Project, Southern Ethiopia

Verde Beef Processing PLC is a world-class operation located in southern Ethiopia which produces premium grain-fed beef for export. The farm, in southern Ethiopia, supports the local community by purchasing young cattle, inputs for feed and creating jobs that teach skills vital to competing in the global marketplace. We advised the holding company on various complex financial, legal and structuring matters in a challenging operating environment prior to the successful disposal of the operating subsidiary to new owners.
